Racquet Sport Rehabilitation

Physical Therapy Treatment for People and Athletes Involved in Tennis, Badminton, Ping Pong, Squash, Racquetball

Overuse is the cause of most racquet sport injuries. Muscle strains, ligament sprains, tendon injuries and other repetitive stress related problems account for majority of injuries. Similarly, to throwing sports, overuse injuries to the shoulder and elbow may be a result of a weakness in the body system that results in inefficiency of movement and overuse of the arm and shoulder. This can often lead to rotator cuff injures or tennis elbow. At Elite Sports Physical Therapy, we first start with treating your area of pain, however we will assess your overall form and technique of your sport and analyze how you utilize and move your entire body. We may recommend strengthening outside your area of pain and provide you a full-body approach to address your sports injury.

Due to the dynamic nature of racquet sports which require quick change of directions and multi-directional movement on the court, ankle and knee injuries are common as well. Our Racquet Sports Therapy Program involves improving your overall flexibility and strength of your lower body, improving muscular control and joint stability through a dynamic, ground-based program. We often combine hand-eye coordination and reactive training to improve explosiveness, power and speed and will incorporate tennis simulated play within the clinic whenever possible. In order to prevent re-injury upon return to sport, our patients often progress through advanced agility and plyometrics drills so that your re-entry onto the court proves seamless.
